Being outdoors people who seem to spend our week days in offices, we found ourselves constantly looking to the hills for the next get away into the wild & rugged South Island high country. Where the sky is deep, the mountains are tall, the air is clear & the adventure limitless (aka Perfection). One day up in the mountains it struck us that we should bring a bit of this back to our own backyard! Our yard not being big enough to let a stag roam we thought a fireplace would do the trick instead! The flicker of a flame, the smell of wood smoke, the crackle of timber combusting & a nice looking fire satisfies that primal desire that only an outdoorsman (or woman) can understand. The nice fire bit was a stumbling block though, with a market flooded with cheap nasty's & knock offs we wanted something solid that looked raw, primal & authentic yet impressive, so we made one ourselves - then many! These fires are inspired by nature to do just that, built to last & keep you warm as well as cook your venison, crayfish, spinach or whatever you're into, and look cool!
